Laura A. Mathews
joined Rumler Tarbox Lyden Law Corporation in
early 2010, and brings with her more than seven
years of experience as an elder law attorney and
probate litigator. Laura is passionate about the
practice of law and mindful about how her role
as counselor and attorney at law can affect
client lives and the lives of client’s family
members.
Laura’s primary focus is to help clients
implement strategies to resolve legal and/or
family related issues that minimize the
tremendous emotional and financial expense that
all too often accompanies elder law and probate
matters. Laura pulls from her personal and
professional experiences to assist clients with
making the difficult and oftentimes painful
decisions that are part of today’s complicated
aging, care, and financial management processes.
Laura has represented clients in long-term care
planning matters, including accessing public
benefits to pay for care, and estate planning
matters. She has used disability trusts to help
clients and families implement a well-balanced,
long-term care plan.
Additionally, Laura has represented guardians,
conservators, trustees, beneficiaries, persons
alleged to be incapacitated, and protected
persons in contested and non-contested probate
related matters including trust administration,
trust litigation, administrative proceedings,
contested conservatorship and guardianship
proceedings. She also has extensive experience
in resolving creditor-related disputes in
probate matters or in family situations, and in
accessing Medicaid to pay for care if it is an
option.
Laura’s ability to help clients navigate through
complex and/or litigious situations stems from
her experience in the legal field and from her
first career in the financial services industry.
Prior to and during law school, Laura worked for
several large financial institutions where she
gained over ten years of extensive experience
dealing with complex compliance issues,
anti-money laundering, white collar crime,
complex federal regulations, multiple legal
issues related to investor accounts, and large
transactions.
